The Building a New Home Design Clinic begins on site where I inspect the property and have a detailed discussion with you about its potential and constraints, and your needs and vision. All of which helps me to outline the possibilities for your site, and how the possibilities match your aspirations.
During practically all Design Clinics the possibilities I identify are greater than my clients have thought possible prior to meeting me.
This is especially true when it comes to the positioning of the new home on the site. That is not surprising as for many clients it is their first build. A and they have no formal training or experience in home building.
After aligning the site’s possibilities with your needs, I stake out the best location and positioning for your new home, which is primarily based on access, orientation and views whilst still taking into consideration all aspects of the site.
Staking out the home includes making sure all the required living spaces face the right way for that site, and it meets all aspects of your vision for what their home will be. For many clients, standing within this staked out space as I explain how to visualise what they are seeing as a three-dimensional space gives them a real sense of ‘standing’ in their new home for the very first time.
