Flowing New Build with the landscape
The concept of this 5 bedroom dwelling house was to follow the contours and create a connection to the land, take advantage of the west lying views, integrate with the existing neighbouring dwellings and yet be contemporary and simple in style. This created a building that is integrated with the site.
Design Concept for integration with the site
• The volume of the building has been elongated down the length of the site, reducing visual impact from the road.
• The roof pitches follow the slopes of the land, minimising visual impact and overshadowing of the north lying property. The singlestorey volume has a grass roof softening the visual roofscape from the approach.
• The internal flow is in direct relationship with the slope of the land. The main entrance, located in the centre of the building, enters into the main living area. From there on the upper floor levels are staggered in direct relationship with the existing contours creating a harmonious internal flow, connection to the land thus minimising excavation.
